The Most Beautiful Song Ever Played

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

This was a highlight of a day filled with highlights. The lucky few in the room were witness to the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard. The piano (which was played by Lizst and Wagner) belonged to Barb’s great-grandfather, a composer. His daughters, Baby (Barb’s great aunt) and Lina (Barb’s grandmother) — both in their 90s — are just off camera to our left. Completely beyond words. There were very few dry eyes in the room. Thanks to Helmut for capturing this!

Jump Around!

Liquor + Americans + Italian DJ with questionable taste + House of Pain = Jump Around!

For the record, the dance floor is basically all American, and, uh, mostly my family, here. The poor Italians, rightfully, had no idea what to make of this mayhem.

Our Last Day in Asia…

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

We’ve been having an absolutely terrific time in Hong Kong. The city is beautiful, the people are kind and the food is exquisite. It’s certainly been one of the most exciting stops on our trip, and we’ve made sure to exhaust ourselves trying to cram everything we can into just three and a half days. On that note, we’re off to keep exploring. Sadly, we leave tomorrow afternoon, but we’re also looking forward to getting back to everything that’s familiar.

Pictures and more to follow when we get back to San Francisco on Thursday… or Friday. We can’t figure out when we land because of the time difference and our inability to do some simple calculations.
